About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To defend the earth

ABOUT ME

I am many different kinds of person -- activist, athlete, actor, musician (not really, but some day), good friend, parent. I have a lot of energy and like to laugh and have fun amidst all the seriousness of life. I'm a good listener and I ask people a lot about themselves.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that the meaning of life is inherent in it -- when we live well, the meaning is obvious and doesn't need any words. I believe in the urgent need for activism for justice and the health of the earth. I like to develop loving relationships with as many people as possible, even those I will only know for five minutes. I think that crying a lot really helps.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm not sure I understand this question, but here goes:

Common activities for me:
rock climbing with friends; Disc golf with a friend; contradancing; blockading pipeline construction; teaching peer approaches to healing from trauma; leading weekend retreats; public speaking; playing Ultimate frisbee; hanging with my (adult) kids.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted people from all over, a dozen or so people have stayed at various times. And I've stayed with people in Atlanta and Chattanooga. My daughter is part of CouchSurfing and she used to have people come and stay at our house (she's off on her own now).

Interests

Rock climbing, music, social change, swimming, skiing/snowboarding, playing games, disc golf, baseball (playing, not watching), running on trails, dancing, theater (I'm an actor and I also like to go to plays), relationships.
