About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Explore Latin American culture, meet local people, learn from others, etc

ABOUT ME

I am Lupa, from France initially, and living and working in London now in teaching and research in social sciences and music. Being a Londoner for the last 12 years has helped me develop a character which is open-minded, outgoing, passionate about others, other cultures, food, and travelling. I love adventures and exchange, and am always happy to show my guests around and welcome them to the town which has become my home after all these years.

PHILOSOPHY

Always do things from the heart. If in doubt about anything (decision, etc), leave it for a bit, relax and just to get back to harmony zero point: where heart and reason meet, where your body feels it fits in the universe, and soul can be the wind in your sails.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am still rather new to this system but I've been hosting lovely people (mostly randomly met) without being necessarily registered or via the CS network in my home for as long as I can remember (probably the last 10-15 years. I love sharing and exchanging with people from different cultures and enrich my horizons and perspectives on all kinds of different aspects of life.
I'm also a member of Blahblahcar, a community to share car journey transportation, to meet new people and share the costs of travel, it has been a fantastic experience too.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In terms of hosting, as I said above, my official CS experience is still very limited but as my "unregistered" experience is quite vast: I'm usually known as a good host, with a specific sense of making people feel at home.
In terms of surfing, haven't surfed yet myself, but I've heard so much about it I'm looking forward to meeting the couchsurfers in Latin America! :)

Interests

I love nature sports (hiking, trekking, although I don't have routine opportunities to practice), swimming, kickboxing, dancing, walks in the park or to the museum when I can spare the time (wishful thinking), BBQs, dinners and drinks with friends, along with travelling to far away places or to unexplored places on my doorstep - I love that London always has a lot of unexpected adventures to offer. I loooove music under most of its forms (listening to it, making it in very amateur-ish way, talking about it), as I think it is a universal language and brings peace inside the soul. I'm also engaged in social justice movements, and tend to get involved or support some campaigns against war, racism and about justice and equality.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The everyday life is a goldmine if you can keep your ability to be amazed by life.
Milestones outside the everyday of amazing things I've had the chance to experience include travelling (I've been to quite a few places, mostly in Europe, the Middle East and Northern Africa, Australia and Northern America), plugging myself deeply into raw nature (sleeping in a prehistoric cave for 2 days in Caucasus mountains at the heart of unexplored, pagan Armenia, swimming deepdown with the fish in the red sea in Egypt, or going fishing on a remote island with no other humans on the archipelago of thousand islands in Finland); but also collective experiences like organising benefit music festivals and social justice campaigns; or spending extended time with local people from different horizons in non-Western countries (Algeria, Palestine)
