About Me

CURRENT MISSION

sorting it all out

ABOUT ME

I like to build things. (http://www.lupusnensen.net)
and to play songs.
I like to stay up all night.
I like to write tiny tiny words in books I've bound.
I like to make short sentences on websites.
in general i like stuff.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that humans are tribal in the sense that we seek people to bond with, and create a collective with.
However I do not think that means that the tribe needs to consist of a certain number of people, at a certain area.
I often come across people that say that ignorance and fear of others are natural due to the same principle.
I do not believe that.
I believe we where designed to help each other. and even though a certain amount of caution for the unknown probably is wise, I believe that every single one of us, if given the chance and the right circumstances, are by definition - "good". why? because I think we have to, I think the world our ancestors created for us based on greed and guilt is humanity in its cradle going terribly wrong. And though I don't think it's reversable I do hope that it is changeable.
(i also believe that the word "tribe" is a bit silly).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I first couchsurfed in iIndia and had the best introduction to it ever,
Arvind was just the greatest host.
then I tried it in New York, but that didn't turn out quite as good, (the "all female dorm" wasn't all too happy to keep me).
Recently I've just hosted here in malmö, and it's been really nice.
So if you feel like we could have some interesting conversations, then drop me a line!
I'm not as serious or pretentious as I may seem.

Interests

ancient history, animal rights, all kinds of instruments (i own and play the guitar, banjo, pump-organ, harmonica, double bass, accordion, saxofon, clarinett, lute and oud. all of which i play amazingly bad), victorian age fashion, vegetarian cooking, building stuff, eating stuff and drinking stuff (i worked as a bartender for 9 years, so it kinda comes with the job.)

Music, Movies, and Books

dead (or almost dead), bitter men (leonard cohen, tom waits, nick cave, johnny cash). or 1920's jazz and showtunes. (cole porter and george gershwin). the twiligt singers, ella fitzgerhald, nina simone and billie holliday. saint-saens and tartini, paganini and django and chet baker.
i tend to read a lot of non-fiction books, mostly historic. i enjoy elaine pagles books on gnosticism and i've been struggeling through the egyptian and the tibetan book of the dead for quite some time now. (and by "quite some time" i mean like 4 years.)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hmm. Hopeless romantic warning!
I've run away from dragons on komodo, climbed up the pyramids of giza, gone on a house boat through the jungles of borneo, walked through ankor wat at dawn, seen the full moon over pera in istanbul, swam with manta rays in indonesia and seen the bodies burning by the gagnes in varanasi. seen the himlayas from darjeeling and the northern lights in piteå, seen monkeys jump above me in the amazon and crused down the nile, drank absinthe in prague and the snow on the gondlas of venice in december. the uffizi in florence and the louvre in paris,
but the most amazing thing i've seen is the shoulders of a loved one as the morning light sips through the blinds.
there you go, never ask me to quote that again!
