About Me

Hello, we are a young couple (Lucia 27 and Martin 26) currently living in Prague. We have moved here a month ago, so we are not that familiar with local pubs or touristic places, but we will be flattered to get know this city with you. We are from Slovakia and we already lived in Czech Republic, also our cultures are pretty close, so if you are interested to get know something about typical cuisine or culture, we will be glad to introduce you.

We are travellers who enjoy to share crazy travelling stories but also like to have deep conversation about life. We are friendly open-minded people which decided to share our couch with individual who wants to share her/his story as well. That’s why we don’t want to invite people who are just looking for a place to sleep for free.

If you are interested just write us a message :) Don't forget to mention your favourite band and movie, so we know that you read our profile.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

While we travelled through many countries we met incredible people thank to the couch surfing, we shared their homes and lives and we found out that community and experience like this is much more valuable than accommodation in hotel, because we had opportunity to go deeper into the culture, cuisine. Also we want to return this kindness and offer our couch as well.

Interests

(Lucia) I´m person who like arts and who tries to do arts. I like painting, drawing and photography. I like to work with graphic software like adobe photoshop, lightroom and illustrator. But I have lots of other interests. In the past I tried horse riding, scuba diving, rafting, canoeying etc

(Martin) You can say that my interests are complete opposite of Lucia's but I try to be open minded and try to see beauty everywhere - in arts, too. However, my main interests are more scientific kind, I have studied analytical chemistry so I like anything connected with it and I like to read and think about how nature works. And I am into cars, in the future I would like to restore some but right now I do not know much about them. Regarding sports I like cycling, running, street hockey and same as Lucia scuba diving, rafting, canoeing.

Music, Movies, and Books

Lucia:

Of course I like music. In the past my music taste was diverse but now I prefer things like Pink Floyd, The Doors, Moby and many others. I really like alternative music genres, some mystical and spiritual tones :D My interest also belongs to Slovak music and to old things. I really appreciate the music and I´m open to new things.

Art is in my life separate chapter. It means a lot to me because I´m an artist or I trying to be an artist :D When I´m drawing or painting I´m just happy. From famous artists I like Salvador Dali and his wonderfull surealism, Zdzisław Beksiński because of his skill to paint very real darkness. I like Klimt´s Death and Life, maybe I would have tatoo with this :D But I can find something inspirational or interesting in any type of art.

My relationship to books is more than good. I read lot of books classic like Orwell, Lords of fly, On the road, Harry Potter. My big interesst belongs to wrighters like E.A. Poe, Lovecraft, Bukowski, King, Palahniuk. But I love fantasy books, too. For example, Game of Thrones, Lord of the rings and Witcher.

Now few words about movies. In the past I saw lot of classic cult movies. And I really like Tarantino, Dolan, Lynch and others... In my favour are movies, which are low budget and from film festivals like Kan and "mind blowing" movies.

Martin:

In my younger years my relationship with books was not that good because I had bad role models but also I have to admit it is my fault, too. In recent years, mainly thanks to Lucia, I really got into books and try to catch up all the years I did not read. So I appreciate any advise on good books.

Regarding movies, I like anything that is good. I try to be more open minded and not only focus on American filmography but more into European and/or Asian. I really like how type of story telling differs between them. I really like classic good anime as Princess Mononoke and anything from Miyazaki. From European filmography I like old Czech and Slovak movies, they can have really deep meaning and help me guide through life.

When I was in my teens, I was listening a lot of grunge like Nirvana, Pearl Jam and so on. Right now I listen to anything that is good and my music taste spectra increased. But still my favourite band ever is Pink Floyd.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was on Erasmus at Norway without knowing how to speak English properly and I have succesfuly finished my semester.

I hitchhiked at Sicilly, when random weird guy stopped and I stepped in he blocked all the doors. I nearly shat myself :D but everything was good and he was very nice.

Night journey to the beach through old river riverbed. During which I heard howling of wild dogs that lived there and beside this I heard something else, something very scary :D but again everything was good and nothing happened to me :)

A lot of Things bad and good happened to us during our travels, actually we are thinking about writing a book or podcast about it. So if you are interested we can tell you some of them.
