About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Try all of the things.

ABOUT ME

Making it all up as I go along.
Having strange and meandering conversations.
Pointing out the obvious.
Walking into things.
Always knowing where I am.
Falling asleep on the train and waking up at the last stop. True story.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm curious. About everything - I can't help looking at something and wondering why something is the way it is or how it works. I want to get out there and see as much of everything as possible.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Being an ambassador of all that's good about kiwis!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Not a huge amount of experience yet, but everyone has to start somewhere. Have met a few couchsurfers in my home city through awesome activities such as white water kayaking, and now I'm out in the world to give it a go!

Interests

Skiing, Kayaking and rafting, Beach days and BBQs, chilling out and relaxing to some good tunes or with a good book. Always keen to throw around a frisbee or kick a ball, and always willing to meet old or new friends.

Or I'll say buggrit' to everything and spend the day on my bike.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC
I'm not picky with music really - very much a fan of rock, blues, some metal, dub, dance and most things with a decent beat or a good guitar line, so my collection has ended up being somewhat mixed.
Currently on rotation in my playlists are Minuit, Karnivool, Beardyman, Shaka Ponk, Fat Freddys Drop, Melody Gardot, Gorillaz, Portishead and Queens of the Stone Age.

FILMS
I love cheesy switch-your-brain-off action or B-grade "It's corn syrup, not blood" type horror films that you can laugh at. I'm not a huge movie buff by any means, and probably don't watch as many films as I should, so I'm always willing to be pointed in the direction of some of those "must watches"
Particular favourites: the Back to the Future Trilogy, Alien & Aliens, The hunt for Red October, Ghost in the Shell, Elysium, The Princess Bride, Up, The Thing, Flash Gordon, The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai, Toy Story, 12 Monkeys, The Big Lebowski, Jumanji.

FOOD
I'm not going to say I'm a great cook, but I definitely cook enthusiastically. My cooking approach is one I like to refer to as 'adventure cooking' - generally I decide that I want to try something, do minimal research online (usually no further than Jamie, Gordon or Nigella), buy some ingredients and then wing it completely. Somewhat surprisingly, this usually turns out pretty well.
I am also a master at cooking roasts, casseroles and BBQs.

BOOKS
I'm currently re-reading Animal Farm and 1984. Depressingly prescient for books that're 60 years old.
Neil Gaiman is the coolest.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spending xmas day 2011 on a raft floating down a white water river as part of a 5 day rafting trip in the central South Island of New Zealand. Fantastic experience with some amazing mates that I will always cherish.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you to eskimo roll a kayak. I could probably teach you to ski (y'know, if it's snowing, we have skis, and there's a decent mountain nearby). I can even teach you some physics. Otherwise bring your bike and let's go for a ride.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, China, Czech Republic, Germany, Jordan, Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, Turkey, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
