ABOUT ME
I'm definitely an introvert and a book-worm, but I also really enjoy getting to know people one-on-one and take a lot of pride in being able to chat about all sorts of things. I'm especially passionate if you want to ask music questions!
NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION
Make more eye-contact!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
While in Los Angeles, I followed some great groups, but I don't tend to socialize much. My partner and I are moving out of our un-host-able studio to a home in Kentucky, where we hope to be better couchsurfing members!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Bought a car in Phoenix and was driving cross-country back to NY when I got in a series of accidents (yes, more than one) in Ok. City. After being stranded at a gun store for several hours, I got towed to a body shop from which I was able to contact various couch-surfers. I eventually got rescued by a wonderful woman and her daughter who helped me get cleaned up and relaxed. Then we went shopping at a thrift-store, I took a nap, and then went swing-dancing!
Also had a cool dude stay with me and my college roommate. He was biking across the US and had made it through most of NY at that point. We were happy to make a meal, share beer, and unlock the free laundry room!
Interests
Making music, learning languages, teaching (I absolutely adore all my students!), exploring gender and sexuality, learning about my family members' and friends' lives, dancing (Argentine tango, ballet, modern, swing, tap, you name it!), riding bikes and motorcycles, and school. I love school. And books. And sounds.

Music, Movies, and Books
Lifted: A Cultural History of the Elevator
Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance
The Phryne Fisher mystery series
Alan Bradley's Flavia DeLuce series (also murder mysteries!)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Very crazy stories from living abroad, including a random weekend in Genieva in a secret bed that folded out of a cupboard, a generous Peruvian, a city-wide marathon, the longest bench in the world, and a cafe of artist grandparents.
Teach, Learn, Share
Lots of factoids on many topics. I don't mind making it up, either, like Cliff from Cheers. Music is really my bent, though. All things musical. I am fairly tidy and it is very important to me to contribute something to the places/people I stay, be it cleaning up, making a meal, taking you out for a drink, baby-sitting, you name it. I hate to feel like a mooch!
