About Me

I can also be found on BeWelcome: http://www.bewelcome.org/members/thickets

I work in the fields of environmental policy and international sustainable development. I graduated in May 2012 with my master's degree in public affairs with concentrations in environmental policy and international affairs. Before that I majored in modern languages (Russian & German) and international studies with a concentration in environmental studies, graduating from college in 2010. I try to travel whenever possible and take advantage of opportunities to visit new places and meet new people! So far I have traveled in North America, Europe, South America, East Africa, and Siberia.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In the summer of 2009 I took my first couchsurfing trip thorugh central Europe which was a great experience. I have since surfed and met up with people at home, in South America, Iceland, and the Baltics. Thanks to Couchsurfing, I have met some incredible people, learned a lot about myself and others, and I consider it to be truly one of the most formative things I've done! Connecting with people worldwide is the best.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I can't single out a single thing, honestly, but I have a whole host of contenders, mostly from traveling: from the summer cottage sauna in Finland to Russendisko in Berlin to micsharing with Patrick Wolf in Saint Petersburg to climbing a volcano in Iceland to halfway hiking Mount Kenya to dancing to Gangnam Style at a wedding in Lima to swimming in Lake Baikal ...

Teach, Learn, Share

I love sharing music and am always willing to make a mix cd (please, tell me what kind of music you like and I will be more than happy to give you more!). I have some past experience as a DJ in Russia. I can also teach people how to sing russian folk songs! I also enjoy trying to popularize weird dance moves so if you see me and a group of friends dancing strangely, that would be why.

I always want to learn new languages. Tell me how to say 'unicorn' in a language I don't know and I'll be pleased. I'm really trying to improve my spanish right now so practicing that would be great. In return I can teach you silly Finnish phrases.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Super sadly I can't host right now since I am in temporary housing and in the process of moving apartments this month. Not sadly, I just moved to Seattle which I am super excited about. So while I can't have guests at the moment, I am more than happy to meet up with people and then, once I am properly settled, open my doors.
