One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While working on a trail crew for Rocky Mountain Youth Corps, I climbed Mt.Elbert, the highest mountain in Colorado at ~14,443 ft. This was the first mountain I had ever attempted to climb. It was physically and mentally one of the hardest things I've ever done. I wanted to quit so many times, and I probably would have had it not been for my amazing friends who were part of my trail crew. The few of us at the rear of the group were struggling together and encouraging each other. We started the climb at 3:30am and finally made it to the summit around 9:30. Those 6 hours were grueling! I'll never forget the feeling of pushing through that pain and reveling in the beauty and accomplishment from the top of that mountain.
