About Me

Hello everyone!
I'm Lydia, I'm a 26 year old American living in France as an au pair (nanny). I'm taking a year off from working for an NGO to explore more of the world. I've really enjoyed my time in France and I return to the US in August. I am pretty easy going. I like to try new things. I enjoy being outdoors. I love cooking and baking. I speak a little French, but I am still learning. I have been a vegetarian since 2014 but my partner is a chef and a meat specialist so feel free to eat meat around me! I love dogs and back home in the US, I have a 32kg pitbull named Indiana Jones. I love spicy food, red wine, coffee, and chocolate.

I'm a clean and respectful guest. Prefer to stay with women or couples. Friendly to all races, nationalities religions, and gender identities (:

Some goals of mine include: fluency in French and Spanish, running a half marathon, and becoming a yoga master.

Places I want to go next: Spain, Germany, Amsterdam, India, Russia, Canada, Zimbabwe.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm looking to make new friends and explore new places. Hopefully, if you're hosting me we can hang out and you can show me what your city is like as a local! I love to listen and learn. Tell me about your background and share your perspective with me.

Feel free to message me and we can get to know each other!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I really appreciate all genres of music and what I listen to depends on my mood. I like indie, vaporwave, rap, RB&B, pop, bluegrass, motown, and old school, true blue country.

Movies: Coen Brothers, Hitchcock, Christopher Nolan, Wes Anderson. Love stupid comedies, musicals, and documentaries as well.

Books: I try to read nonfiction. I listen to a lot of audiobooks. I'm not sure if I have any favorites. Most recently I've read Peter May, Angela Davis, Michelle McNamara and I started Game of Thrones. A goal of mine is to read through most of Shakespeare's works soon. I've only read MacBeth, Hamlet, and Romeo & Juliet.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I've ever done is quit my job to move across the country and see the world!

What I Can Share with Hosts

My unique perspective on the world! I can make you the best southern style american biscuits you've ever had, and some decent French crepes. I am happy to care for pets and plants. I hope we can establish a real friendship and I can host you in the US one day!
