About Me

I'm an enthusiastic, creative, style-conscious artist with boundless curiosity and a penchant for being goofy. I consider myself an avid student of the world. I hope to soak up as much about different cultures and places and collect as many skills as I can throughout my life! I love hiking and I am always awestruck by the beauty of nature and the seemingly impossible structures people have built within it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love the feeling of living in a place, not just visiting. The best way to get to know a place is to get to know the people who have chosen to make it their home. I can't wait to hear why you've chosen your's!

Music, Movies, and Books

Any music, for the most part, though I favor swing and jazz and a good deal of alternative rock. Vance Joy is one of my musicians of the moment. I'll watch just about any movie unless it's going to scare my pants off. Book-wise, I'm a fan of historical fiction and fantasy. If it's clever and jocular, all the better. That's why I can't get enough of Gail Carriger's books. I've also taken to thrillers recently. I raced through Dark Matter by Blake Crouch in two days and was on the edge of my seat the entire time!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've become a bit famous for my cakes and desserts at the studio I work at and recently developed a technique for candied carrot flowers that left some jaws on the floor. In general, I find it hard to classify anything I've done as amazing. I've certainly experienced some amazing things. Perhaps one of my favorites being riding a bike through the temples in Siem Reap.

Teach, Learn, Share

Though I don't travel with either instrument, I play the piano and ukulele. If you're musically inclined and want to learn or teach me your instrument of choice, I'm all ears! I'm also an amateur chef and am happy to cook for and with company. I love picking up new styles and flavor palettes, so hit me with all you've got!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Hopefully great conversation and a bit of culinary prowess (particularly baking).
