About Me
I'm a solo yogic traveler. I just completed my 1st 200hr yoga certification in Koh Phangan, Thailand. I'm really mellow and laid back. I've practiced yoga for 8 years which has resulted in my calm attitude and influenced my positive outlook in life.
For 2 years, I lived in the countryside of South Korea as an English teacher. It was an eye opening experience which has lead me to travels around the world.
In university I studied at a French campus so I earned my bilingual B.A in drama studies. This year I started studying Spanish. What has helped me learn is listening to Latin music because I want to learn how to dance Salsa, bachatta, merengue you name it and watching movies in Spanish has helped a lot too.
Also, I've always been interested in theater and acting. In 2016, I starred in 2 drama productions in Korea for the Changwon Community theater.
Another one of my creative outlets is cooking. I especially love vegan cooking in the kitchen. Currently I'm striving towards a plant based lifestyle but I'm definitely not perfect. For now plants is my foundation but perhaps you could call me a "lessitarian". I really don't care for labels.
Getting into the acting world is tough so I followed my dreams of getting out into the big world and decided to travel. In 2015, I left my humble life in Canada and moved to South Korea to teach English. Although I briefly returned to Toronto in 2017, I have been traveling ever since. I'm in search for home that aligns with me.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I decided to join couchsurfing because as I solo traveler I really want to make new friends and network with like minded individuals. I heard this is a great opportunity to make that happen, so I'm taking the leap of faith. I really hope to share experiences with kind and open minded people of all walks of life.
Music, Movies, and Books
I love everything under the sun really, especially hip hop, r&b, indie, dancehall, soca, reggae, latin vibes, alternative and the list goes on...
My favourite book is Tuesdays with Morrie. Really any books by Mitch Albom is lovely in my opinion. Living Your Yoga by Judith Lasater taught me a lot about living yoga off the mat. I try to utilize the principles in my everyday life.
My favourite movie hmmm so many to choose from! Particularly, I tend to adore any international movie that has been rated by an film festival. Those are usually the most intriguing to me. I prefer a good story line with depth and unfamiliar actors. Some of my favourites over time have been Crash, Pele, Whiplash, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (original), Aladdin, Mulan, The Ring, Money Talks, 4 Moons, Moonlight, Mystic River, American Gangster, Superbad, Cowspiracy and the list goes on..
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'd have to say apart from leaving my comfort zone and living in a foreign countryside town where no one speaks my language, going on a yoga retreat at Vikasa Yoga in Koh Samui, Thailand was one of the most amazing things I've done. It was such an enlightening experience that really inspired me to evolve my own yoga practice and maybe own my establishment one day.
