I am new to Couchsurfer and apologise that I do not have any references, but hopefully you can get some reassurance that I'm a decent and genuine person by my profile.
I am a mother, and grandmother who lives in Adelaide, Australia. I currently work part-time as a mental health counsellor. I travelled 40 years ago, to both Europe, England, and the USA, and plan to do a big trip to mainly Austria and Germany (possibly other countries). My father was Austrian (from Styria) and I would like to connect with the Austrian/German culture, lifestyle, history, values, traditions, practices and understand Austria and Germany better. I have been learning the German language for the past 3 years (still a relative beginner - completed A2 level recently) and would like to practice that as well in order to improve.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To gain an real authentic Germanic experience with locals and to improve my German language skills.
I know that I'm not in the usual 'young' age range but hopefully that will not matter, as I'm relatively young at heart, and a very flexible and considerate person. Because this is a new experience for me I would very much like to chat online to my host beforehand if possible, so we can both feel comfortable with each other.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have so many favorites in terms of music, movies and books.
I tend to go to the Cinema often. Love English BBC movies and some USA movies. Even watched many German movies over the past couple of years - all genres interest me.
Enjoy listening to all kinds of music. Love Mozart, Bach, Schubert, Beethoven.
Love reading interesting Literature such as War and Peace, many of Charles Dickens novels, George Orwell and lots of other classics. Like reading prize winning novels.
