About Me
Hello couch surfers!
I am originally from the southern US (think: country music, cowboys, and barbecue) but am currently completing my PhD at Oxford in the UK. This is the first time I'm spending any real time in Europe and would love to both host and surf while I'm abroad. I am generally very friendly, although my sense of humor is not always politically correct.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I would really like to see Europe as more than just a tourist. Even if no one is able to host me, I would still be open to meeting and making new friends from different places! I would also like to host others when I can, as I am always open to meeting new people!
Interests
I consider myself to be a scientist-in-training. The fact that we're here, we're conscious, and we're functional absolutely amazes me. I want to figure out (or at least help try to figure out) why and how we work, so I guess you can say that science is a big interest.
I'm also very into cooking and eating (especially eating) food. I'm something of a carnivore, and I think that most things taste better with butter.

Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy most music, although I have a slight preference for indie rock, pop, and, yes country.
I love watching movies and enjoy most genres, but I especially like comedies, sci fi/fantasy, thrillers/dramas, and tear jerkers. Favorite movies include the Matrix, Lord of the Rings (all of them, extended editions), Hitch, The Prestige, Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog, and others.
