About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Wishing to explore the world and discover new places, cultures, people, and traditions.

ABOUT ME

We are two active, fun-loving, talkative people who love to travel. We believe there is so much to learn about this world and that the best way to do so is through conversations with people.

We hope to learn about this world by traveling and submerging ourselves into the culture.

PHILOSOPHY

Live life to the fullest.

There is always something to learn.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We love to travel. After our trip to Bhutan last year, we can't stop the need to spend every weekend going on adventures and traveling.

Currently, we are focusing our travels on the United States and Canada while we save up money for a trip to Europe. There is so much to explore in America and we are excited to see it all.

We are hoping Couch Surfing allows us to get to know more people as we travel. We both enjoy discovering the hidden gems of a city as well as the city's culture.

Traveling teaches you a lot about yourself and can educate you in ways a school can't. We hope that by truly placing ourselves into the culture of each location traveled, we will learn more about the world and ourselves.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have yet to couch surf, other than with friends and family, but we are so excited to start! We want to couch surf so we can get a better sense of the people and culture of the place we travel to. Hotels are so cold and just don't offer the same feel.

Interests

We both love music. In college we both created A capella groups on campus and we still write arrangements whenever we miss it. We are always in search of good concerts, whether the artist is local or well known.

Geocaching is one of our favorite past times. We go whenever we get the chance. Geocaching is truly a great way to explore the world and feel like a kid again. Plus we have seen some amazing things that we would have missed otherwise.

Cinematography and photography are also huge interests of ours. We have both created short films and full-length documentary films and we are always searching for our next story. Because of our backgrounds in Journalism, we love talking to people in order to understand their individual stories. There is always something so rewarding about finding out what drives people in this world. We love the visual storytelling capabilities of cinematography and photography.

We also enjoy discovering new microbreweries. We are both beer drinkers who always leave the liquor store with a craft beer we have never tried before. There is something great about supporting the little guys. Plus, when you discover a new favorite, its always and exciting moment. If you know of any great brewery tours around you, let us know!

Music, Movies, and Books

Bobby is an absolute movie fanatic while Lynne has seen little to no movies. Help Lynne create her long, long, "Movies to see before she dies" list. haha

We love music and we are open to pretty much all types. There are always new bands to discover and we enjoy seeing bands in concert.

A small list of some of the bands we enjoy:

Rustic Overtones, Guster, Cake, Ben Folds (Five), Sara Bareilles, The Beatles, Dave Matthews Band, Barefoot Truth, and endless more. We are always open for new suggestions!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We taught a media literacy program in Bhutan. Bhutan was the last country in the world to receive cable television in 1999. Therefore, the country is risking losing its culture from the wake of the new media era. Our goal was to teach a group of 30 high school and college students how they can live with media without losing their culture.

The "Media Nomads" have continued to bring their knowledge to every corner of the country, and have set up local newspapers, student run organizations, and local meetings.

We learned so much about the beautiful culture of Bhutan and ourselves when we were there. We would love to go back one day to meet up with some of our students and see the progress since we left.

Teach, Learn, Share

Everywhere on earth has its own unique beauty.

By placing yourself in an uncomfortable situation, you learn so much about yourself. So step out of your comfort zone and take chances.
