CURRENT MISSION
Explore. Have Fun. Try New Things. Eat Good Food.
ABOUT ME
I grew up right next to New York City but spent 4 years on the beach in California for University. I love adventures and am just as comfortable in a big city as I am in the woods.
I am super open minded and up for almost anything. I believe in the good in people and am very trusting and giving. I believe you can learn something from everyone you meet. Life is all about relationships and connections with other people. Getting to know someone new is so satisfying.
I'm interested in studying inequality (economic, racial, etc.). I've had many interesting conversations with people who have varied opinions on how/why the world works like it does and how it could be changed.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Surfed all over Ireland and England in Spring of 2012. Surfed my way from Kansas City to New York and back in Dec 2012.
This website is always my first stop when I'm planning a trip.
I look forward to hosting when I settle somewhere appropriate!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
As my experience grows so does my love of this amazing community! I've only surfed so far but I plan on staying active and hosting as soon as possible.
Interests
- interesting discussions
- travel (duh)
- culture
- hiking, camping, being outdoors
- good food, especially things I haven't tried before
- beer!
- tea and coffee
- books, libraries
- the sun, especially as it rises and sets
- bodies of water, everything from pools and jacuzzis to lakes and oceans
I'm very physically active and I love a good challenge. Some of my favorite sports: gymnastics, swimming, diving, rock climbing, snowboarding, surfing, biking, and running.
I do yoga every day and know a lot about yoga so I'm always excited to talk or practice together!
I'm not into going out to clubs or drinking late into the night. More about local breweries and having a few beers on a patio.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: almost everything. a good song is a good song. From Bon Iver to Nicki Minaj, Beethoven to the Black Keys. I can definitely introduce you to new music, and I hope that you'll do the same :-)
Books: I read a lot of nonfiction but lately I'm trying to balance it more with some fiction.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
For 4 summers I worked at a sleep away camp for homeless kids from NYC. Every summer I was amazed at the way the kids changed, and the way they changed me. It was a really rewarding job and by far one of the most important things in my life.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to teach/learn new recipes, musical instruments, and dances! I'm also really good at recommending books (I worked at Barnes & Noble).
The only thing I'm actually certified to teach is swimming, which I'd be happy to do if there's an opportunity!
