About Me

Born in Ukraine, grew up in Canada. I'm keen to meet new people, learn about different cultures, get a taste of living like a local in as many cities as possible, and enjoy life to its fullest!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I registered for the website a long time ago because it seemed like an interesting concept, but I only had my first Couchsurfing stay in Vienna in August 2017 (planned by a friend I was travelling with, who loved it). I couldn't have asked for a better host - I could write volumes about the time we spent with our new friend, a legendary Superhost, who has one of the biggest hearts I've ever encountered. I Couchsurfed a month later in Cape Town, and was incredibly lucky enough to find two amazing hosts there too! I look forward to more adventures :)

Interests

I like hiking and being in nature, walking/sightseeing, biking, reading (mostly non-fiction), discovering new music, dancing (poorly, but with enthusiasm), watching stand up comedy, cooking and baking (especially learning dishes from different cultures, or someone's specialty), and exploring good food.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Indie/alternative, dream pop, RnB, hip hop, and house are all great. I usually listen to playlists with a bunch of different artists.
Movies: I'm more into shows, mostly comedy. I used to watch movies more often, and I do like comedies, some critically acclaimed dramas, and movies that are creative/imaginative.
Books: I read a lot of academic writing and haven't been making much time for books, but when I do they're usually non-fiction, often related to science/medicine, behavioural economics, and/or psychology. I'm also a fan of essay collections.
Podcasts: Not an option, but I love podcasts! Favourite topics are science/medicine, design, and current events.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'd pick two major ones:
1. I lived in Oslo for a year, and got to do some amazing travel around the country with wonderful people - including seeing the Northern Lights for the first time!
2. I visited Cape Town and was blown away by the nature, food, and people I met. Particularly memorable was the botanical garden, where some plants looked like they were drawings from a Dr. Seuss book.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach and Share: I can teach you how to make sense of science/health related literature, if you're into that kind of thing. I can also cook/bake for you :)
Learn: A vague question, I assume about the person I meet? I guess - your favourite spots in the city, experiences that shaped your view of the world, things that bring you joy, and whatever else you want to talk about!
