About Me

My name is m (yeah, actually haha), I am in my mid twenties and I live in Vienna. My main occupation is University apart from which I like to spend a lot of time at home reading and procrastinating :D Whenever I can, I love to travel and explore cities as well as nature. Those who know me also know that I'd always passionately document my travels with all sorts of photography and annoy people with my instagram etc. ;)

Since I am queer (non-binary trans boy), I use they/them/their pronouns and am obviously looking for hosts who are not discriminatory. I myself unfortunately don't have the opportunity to host anyone at the moment because I live in a one bedroom apartment with my bed only :(

Judging from my friends' reactions, I am a humorous person but also know when things are serious and you can talk with me for hours. Usually I'm very good at finding solutions to other peoples' problems, just not my own haha.

I am very interested in queer feminist and post-/decolonial theory as well as any social justice topic in general. We can have all the political discussions but we can also just hang out, drink wine and share stories about our lives. I am a very reliable person and therefore often find myself in situations where I'm stood up or people don't respect my time. So once you have my word, you can be sure I'll keep it. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on Couchsurfing because I want to explore a new way of traveling. I used to host many people with my ex-partner here in Vienna but never actually couchsurfed myself which I really wanna change now! Of course I've crashed friends' sofas, but never stayed with strangers :)

I am here to have a place to sleep but also to actively meet people and engage. One of my most cherished friends I've met on Couchsurfing 5 years ago and despite living thousands of kilometers apart, we manage to stay in touch and meet almost every year in another environment. It would be amazing to make more friendships like these happen <3

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy electronic music but in general I'm open to many different kinds of bands and artists, it just has to appeal to me. Right now I'm listening to loads of 80s music but also to EASTER, The Knife, Ibeyi, Mykki Blanco, Tegan and Sara, Santigold, MGMT, Daughter and so many more, it actually changes daily :)

Recently I've had a hard time finding good movies, so I rarely every watch any. I can watch trash as long as I'm aware of it being trashy, that's super fine :)

I mostly read academic books since I need to read a lot for University, but every now and then I enjoy a good novel or biography. Currently I'm reading a book on Post-Colonial theory as well as a Swedish book about trans folks.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Probably the most amazing thing I've done is traveling to Iceland. I think I won't even start to describe how this versatile and calm place made me feel. Right now I remember walking on fields of moss at 7 am and spotting a arctic fox.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some of the languages (or basics thereof, rather) that I speak and I can share some of my cooking with you :) Further, I'd love to exchange thoughts on all kinds of feminist theory and anti-racism etc.
Those are things that I wanna teach as well as learn because I think that it's crucial to not stop thinking about social justice and to constantly let one's thoughts evolve.
Also, I can share my lived experience as a queer person in different environments. If you're onto something less heavy though, we can just share funny stories and travel tipps! ;)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook, clean, bring nice sweets from Austria and share the languages I speak and also some basic photography skills (that are absolutely not professional, but somehow I manage to make my photos look pretty haha)
