ABOUT ME
We're a family of two happy explorers ...
I'm self-employed and my 20 year old daughter Mackenzie who completed her high school through distance education while travelling.
We started CouchSurfing years ago while we were travelling and looking for a way to get out into the world more often (without hotels, but in community with other people). CouchSurfing was perfect. We CSed for several years, had a blast, have some good stories, and are now settled into Vancouver where Nancy teaches music and Mackenzie studies languages at college.
PHILOSOPHY
I'm kinda partial to our fridge magnet: "life doesn't have to be what people tell you it is"
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
CouchSurfing has been phenomenal... we have met so many amazing/interesting/lovely people, and hope to continue the pattern in Asia! It breaks down the invisible barriers many parts of our society build-up, and for this, I believe it is slowly changing the world. It is the antibody to prejudice and ignorance, and brings people together like nothing else. It truly is a wave of the future.
Interests
Photography, travelling/exploring, language-ing, biking, judo-ing, volunteering, working, blah blah blah. Tons of stuff :)

Music, Movies, and Books
Like most music. To listen to just for the sake of listening to we'd probably go for some classical or jazz. But for having on in the background anything goes!
Favourite movie is Silence of the Lambs. Not even ashamed to admit it! It's a well made movie! Also a big fan of Sound of Music. Naturally. I figure the two go hand in hand and balance each other out. All sorts of good movies out there...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
While travelling/wandering around southern US, we came across a Native-American ceremony along a back road. We stopped in and the 'chief' of this Yavapai-Apache tribe invited us to eat with them ... they were most gracious...
Teach, Learn, Share
We can "teach" you how to find a couch while walking the streets of the Lower East Side in NYC at midnight! Nancy is a music educator, so of course there's plenty of musical knowledge to share. Mackenzie speaks some French and Mandarin, so maybe that could be handy!
