ABOUT ME

I am competitive, poetic, compassionate, generous, determined, spontaneous. Based on these traits, you could also say that I am an argumentative blabber-mouth who is gullible, easily manipulated, often obsessive, and above all inconsistent.

Hey.. what can I say? There are two sides to every coin.

I love to sit and meditate, but I enjoy people just as much. I stay busy, and enjoy practicing virtually every form of art, but almost as a rule devote my creative powers to finding ways to use social and environmental causes to catalyze a more profoundly spiritual paradigm shift. Rather than creating a masterpiece for others to passively admire, I feel that direct action is a form of art I can share directly with others. When I'm not doing that, I do what I consider preparation. I spend a lot of my time outside in nature, although I enjoy the urban landscape just as much. I identify with Sufi, Zen, Taoist, Hindu, Christian, and Lakota traditions but profess none of them. I try to listen more than I speak. I try to be courageous without being stupid, and be sensitive while remaining firm.

I am a very open and direct person, but am able to use act with subtlety when the person or situation calls for it. I think interpersonal problems are best to solved as soon as they arise. Emotions are good for driving you to work harder, but should never be the source of disagreement or discord. My fuel is inspiration, excitement, hope, and opportunity. Using the knowledge that horrible suffering for most of the world's population is already occurring and will exponentiate into the infinite future just doesn't produce the same results. Stay Positive.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

The internet is mostly a place of pure ideas. Couch surfing brings the internet to the "real-world." The implications of which I cannot even begin to speculate oabout. My job as a member of this community is to facilitate this process of evolution.

Interests

Music: i come from a musical family. i enjoy all types.

Art: drawing, sculpture, poetry, prose, music, staring at woodgrain, laying on my back under a tree and studying the way the branches lay over one another japanese aesthetics

Meditation: Preferably outside and in a form that's not too contrived

freeform communication: instead of speaking in subject/verb/predicate, speak in groups of seemingly unrelated words. If alone, I think of a group of words on my own and create a story, theme, or idea that connects all of the words.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I haven't done much. I took a really good picture of a river in Brazil (Check my photos)

Teach, Learn, Share

Forté: System's theory within the context of facilitating social change.

the systemic elements of psychology and the personal elements of sociology (survey based statistics are bogus) . Some philosophy-- lots of eastern mysticism. economics and finance. Business planning. Strategy. technical writing. drumming. Events organizing. I am an excellent writing coach.

My teaching style is to adopt the rational framework of the other person. I ask questions in order to understand, and through the process of explanation, of applying said theory to a series of rigorous logical tests (questions), we both learn something new.

Countries I’ve Visited
