ABOUT ME

I'm 53, female, born; brought up and married in Pune, India. Am 'officially' a Speech, Drama, Communication Skills teacher; voice and teacher trainer. I run a Speech and Drama Academy and a Language Centre.

Unofficially, though, I'm a certified nut-case! Having FUN in everything I do is an obsession....!I travel extensively (pretending it's work but actually for pleasure). Got bitten by the travel bug very early in life and am still infected by periodic flare-ups of the wander-lust! My best family holidays have been to the various national parks in India where we saw some amazing wildlife.... wildhogs, sloth bear, cheetal, sambhar, peacocks, bara-singha, wild dogs, civet cats, porcupine, crocodile, turtle, tortise, and, of course....Tiger!
LOVE cooking - and am ready to whip up a meal as a leisure activity....Am happily married to a gr8 guy; have 2 kids - a son (28) and a married daughter (28). Have a couple of pet dogs.
Live in a big joint family - so if you visit, be prepared to meet the clan (age range 12 to 87 yrs)
A word of caution - if you have pet-allergies, you should look for another host option. My dogs are allowed into the house, into all living areas.

PHILOSOPHY

Live life on your own terms..... laugh, sing, dance and have fun...! If you can't find fun in a job - it's not for you....!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I joined in Dec'10 - CS came highly recommended thru a very trusted pal....!
I can happily help you plan some 'off the beaten tracks' holidays in Maharashtra and maybe even around India.
A lot of times I just contact the locals in a place I'm visiting to get some 'inside info'..... It's fun! CS rocks....!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been hosted twice - in Kandy, Sri Lanka and Isle of Man (LOVED both the experiences..... made several new pals....!)
Have hosted a few times now - and loved that too!
My new philosophy is - I shall give preference to CSer who also host others. This is a 'give'n'take' spirited organization - so those who want to be hosted by me must have at least some hosting experience :-)

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Trekked on the Great Wall of China.
Couldn't bear to do the touristy section - so I found a guy who arranged for my friend & me to go to a village 200 miles north of Beijing. It was a remote village with just 12 families.
We stayed with a local couple, trekked the broken, wild sides of the Great Wall and dined on authentic Chinese grub. YUM!
At night we slept on a heated bed - kept warm by a burning furnace under the concrete 'bed'....!
