About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To start travelling and explore the world once again. Also, to strike the right balance between work and life, since these last two years have been too much about the first one.
ABOUT ME
I consider myself an open minded person, always interested in knowing other cultures. Unfortunately I'm a little bit introverted so sometimes it's difficult to get to know other people, but that doesn't mean that I'm close and I don't want to talk to anyone: I just need some time to get more confident with what's around me.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've been an active couchsurfer since 2012. Unfortunately, never had the chance to host. Maybe I could start soon :)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Best one? 2013 summer in Spain. Simply great! My month-long trip there would have been boring and less interesting without the people I meet through CS! I learned so much and enjoyed my holiday more!
Interests
Travelling, of course. Books (especially thriller, crime and history) and movies (if I could I'd go to the cinema once a week). Hiking and skiing. Learning how things works and building some.
Music, Movies, and Books
Favorite writer: Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I really love how he manages to always add a little bit of magic in his novels making it seems as obvious as what belongs to the real world. I am now reading something from the Swedish Mankell and Larsson: I know they are really well known, I am finally understanding why!
I really like watching movies, with friends or alone. When I used to live in Santiago (Dominican Republic) some friends of mine and I used to gather at someone's home for a movie night, or go to the theater, at least once a week. One of my favorites movies is 'Into the Wild', every time I see it I enjoy the sense of freedom it gives.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I haven't just one of those great anecdotes you may want to read, or maybe I have more than one but it's really hard to me to recall one that is worth the definition of "amazing".
I'd definitely say that the most amazing thing I've done in my life is the exchange year with AFS in the Dominican Republic. Even though many people tell me "oh, so you spent a year partying, drinking and going to the beach, great", it was completely different. Yeah, sure: I've done all that, but also much more. I lived in a city far from the sea, with a Dominican family and went to a regular Dominican school. When I arrived there I didn't speak a word of Spanish so I had to learn it day by day. Doing all this 10 thousands km away from my family and my country at 17 years old..well, I think I can say it's amazing. To me it surely had been so!
