About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I try to understand the delusive Other, although I'm convinced that's practically impossible.

ABOUT ME

I am able to be interested in absolutely anything, as long as I understand enough of the subject matter. I love my studies, but I am convinced I would have loved any other studies equally.

I love reading, writing, watching obscure (and less obscure) arthouse movies, taking walks in woods or mountains, cycling (I'm Dutch, I can't help it), visiting museums, theatres and festivals, learning/reading about history, telling and hearing tall stories (with or without a campfire).

You can read more in my biography in about 60 years ; ) Or ask me, which would be slightly quicker.

PHILOSOPHY

I consider myself a humanist existentialist: I somehow love the emptiness and meaninglessness of existence. People who consider that pessimistic are still thinking in terms of a meaning of life.

Live it the way you like on the principles of peace, love, understanding and connection: act on the basis of basic humanity, love for anyone and anything, always look for the good and beautiful in others and in the world, search for those precious Romantic moments in nature and in yourself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hosting, surfing and telling people I meet about CS!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first experience with CSing was when I stayed over at a friend's house and he was hosting a CSer =) It was a very positive and interesting experience and the inspiration to finally join CS (after the many stories I already heard about it).

So far I have hosted one person for a week. I must say I really enjoy being a host. I've had a wonderful time with my surfster. I'd love to discover what more CS has to offer ^^

Interests

My main interests are literature and theatre, although, as stated before, I can be interested in truly anything.

I love to learn about science. I try to understand various religions, although I am not religious myself. I love to read and learn about pseudo-scientific theories like the Ancient Alien theory, but mainly just for laughs ^^.

Teach, Learn, Share
