About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Curious to meet people and hear how they experience their lives and life in general

ABOUT ME

I like to talk in an easy-going setting, one-on-one or in small groups to really get to know people. That's what makes couchsurfing so great: getting to know people that you would never have met otherwise.
Nearly always I'm a very up and positive person and most people find me very energetic and full of plans and ideas.
More and more I learn to be who I am. That is: not pretending to be better or more interesting for other people, but just living my life and being proud of it!
I really like to trust people and although some may call it naive, I've always preferred this better than being cynical. That's why I'm so happy to have found couchsurfing!

PHILOSOPHY

So many things and people to get to know, to learn to do and experience... so better start today than feeling sorry tomorrow that you didn't.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Couchsurfing when travelling for work or leisure, hosting when I'm at home, and telling people about this great initiative when I get the chance!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Usually I was visiting friends around the world when I was travelling, but with CS the world is opening up in an exciting new way. I really enjoyed it when travelling through Russia and Eastern Asia as well as during various trips in Europe. It is so special to find such caring, open, gentle people all around the world!

Interests

Nature (especially small critters, bugs, insects, but anything really!), theatre (especially absurdist), hiking, bicycling, aikido, movies, books, going out to enjoy rock n roll music!

Music, Movies, and Books

Rock´n´Roll (oh yeah!), Blues, Jazz, Classical, Folk, Drumm´n´Bass, Klezmer, Balkan. Absurdist authors and playwrites (Beckett, Albee, Pinter, Ionesco, Mrocek), Poetry, Russian literature, Movies that shift your view on everyday life and society (Pi, Strange Days, 12 Monkeys, 8 1/2, Solaris, 2001 A space Odyssee; Leaving Las Vegas) or wacky movies like Underground; Black Cat White Cat; 27 missing kisses; The cook the thieve his wife & her lover; Blue Velvet) and many many many others!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The past years I've traveled (and couchsurfed) by train and boat from Holland through Russia, Mongolia and China to Japan, where I cycled with my good friend and photographer Makoto Takada! Doing fieldwork in the vast empty tundra of Northeastern Siberia was also quite an interesting thing to do. I've done some CS in Europe and mainly hosted a number of very interesting people. Lately, I have been very busy with my PhD, moving to Switzerland and other stuff, so I have not been able to host.
