About Me

Hello there!
What about me? That's a tough one! I'll try my best ah!
I am Mary a solo traveler from Québec (the French part of Canada).
I love to laugh, to learn, to experience, to meet different people. I am very passionate about outdoor activities, I love to hike, bike, do some kayaking, fishing, camping, stargazing..! I just feel so good surrounded by nature. I love to be out my comfort zone and know how to enjoy a good book and café by a rainy afternoon!
Since I was really young I've always been attracted in traveling and meeting new interesting and different people. I visited several countries and make some solidarity project abroad while I was studying.
I am now a special care counselor, working with people having special needs.
2years ago, I left everything, my job, my house, my husband and the cats, and grab my backpack for traveling. It was a rough and amazing journey through America, Asia and Oceania. I went home after a year and spend the other year trying get back and being part of that society again. It actually worked, but this life was not making me feel happy and fulfilled.
So here I am, on the road again !
I booked the cheapest flight and left. I must be very lucky, because it came out that flight was going to Dublin. I’ll be discovering Europe for next months and hope to learn about the different culture by meeting inspiring people!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I love to travel and learn about other culture and other lifestyle. I want to learn from people visiting my place. When I'm traveling, I love to meet real people and do real stuff and eat real food from the place. To me, that’s the best way to travel!

Because I believe in sharing. I think life is a succession of shared experiences. The give and take game doesn't need material transaction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was about 18, I crossed Canada and USA with an old 73 VW hippie van. I don't even know how that was possible, but the bus climbed the Rockies and made it all the way down to California on the highway 1. We've got to visit loads of garages to get out of trouble, but after all, we've met a lot of good hearted people.

I’ll be glad to tell you other great traveling stories... backpacking through USA, living a month on a sailboat in Hawaii, bringing my mom to the Himalayan mountains...

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, France, Laos, Myanmar, New Zealand, Senegal, Spain, Thailand, Tunisia, United States, Viet Nam
