Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To host foodies who can share their cuisine with me!
ABOUT ME
I am the quintessential culture vulture! Although I'd love to go to other countries in the world (especially the ones in Africa and Latin America), I'd like to do some exploring of my own country first! I'd be a great tour guide for Manila and the Cordillera Region. I even have a native house in Batad, Banaue!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm restarting my Couchsurfing experience after a long hiatus. I've moved to a lovely tourist city in the mountains: Baguio! Hoping to host guests who have an interest in food and who can teach me how to cook food from foreign lands...
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I guess the loveliest CS experience I had so far was when my friend Raoul and I hosted a CS Party with 14 people in the beautiful Batad Rice Terraces! In between the hiking and stumbling, we had some serious mountain madness and fun!

Music, Movies, and Books
I seldom watch movies and read books. I usually read academic journal articles (what a NERD!). But I'm basically a pop diva (are Joss Stone and Mariah Carey pop singers?).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I helped renovate old, dilapidated native houses (baluy) in the northern Philippine highlands (Batad, Banaue, Ifugao, to be exact). Check out the pictures on my profile. During the dedication ritual, the village priest gave me an Ifugao name -- Immatong. It means "warm".
Teach, Learn, Share
I am a teacher by vocation, so I can lecture lengthily about food culture. However, I'm more interested in showing people around museums so they get to appreciate Philippine art. I also am a minor collector of Cordilleran tribal artifacts, so I can show people what they look like. Besides these, I can also cook some Filipino dishes.
