About Me

I'm a musician from New Zealand. I play guitar, violin, and sing. I write a lot of songs and do covers too - I love to improvise on violin and enjoy a wide range of styles. I am so so keen for a jam with other musicians and to hit up open mics.

I'm passionate about permaculture, gardening, sustainable lifestyles, and have a big health focus. I can't eat gluten, dairy, or refined sugar (though I cheat on that last one fairly often ha) - so I know how to cater for people with restricted diets, including vegetarian/vegans (I used to be one).
I'm also quite spiritual and dabble in yoga, meditation, reiki and tarot. I'm always keen to do tarot readings for people.

I love open, vulnerable and connecting conversations. I seek to understand people and what drives them, individually and as a whole.

If you're interested in my music:
A spontaneous recording of an original--

The Goth and the Pixie at Down the Rabbithole (Alice in Wonderland themed concert (mostly metal)) (I wrote this one too)--

And the Goth and the Pixie as a full band (the beginning is mostly improvised jamming as we set up and try protect ourselves from the rain) (skip to 7.38 if ya wanna skip that stuff) (unfortunately my voice is a little quiet in this one)--

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have hosted couchsurfers in the past and thoroughly enjoyed the jams and exchange of culture. There are some beautiful people travelling this earth <3 So now, I hope to see how it is from the other side.
I love the spontaneity of travellers - and the absolute freedom that life is approached with.

Music, Movies, and Books

Janet Frame's autobiography is beautiful and inspiring and so full of wisdom. Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams. Tobias's Utopian Dreams is a great commentary on communities and travel.
Perks of Being a Wallflower is beautiful both on screen and on paper.
Amelie is my all time favourite film.
I love the Barons of Tang (Melbourne, Auz), Ted Danson With Wolves (Syd, Auz), Bright Eyes, Ryan Adams, Temper Trap, Sufjan Stevens, Lorde, Hop Along, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, Beirut, Modest Mouse, the Antlers, Waterboys, Guillemots, TWIABPAIANLATD (or whatever that acronym is), Emily Haines, The Mermaidens (Wtn, NZ), Looking for Alaska (Ham, NZ), Sterling Archer (Ham, NZ), Albi and the Wolves (Aux, NZ), Aorangi (Ham, NZ) .... I could go on forever.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My band the Goth and the Pixie opened for Ted Danson With Wolves on their NZ tour. We have also opened for Looking for Alaska, Albi and the Wolves and the Mermaidens.

A temporary project of mine 'Closet Octopus' (100% human I swear it. Drummer particularly human) performed recently in a fully booked show - and the whole audience stopped, sat and watched. Awesome vibes right there.

I left NZ for the first time last year. Life is beautiful, and I think there will be a lot more to put here after the next year or so.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach some guitar or violin :) or jam if you already play.
Or cooking for gf, df, rsf peoples. I can teach vegetarian cooking (though I am no longer vegetarian myself).
Teach gardening and permaculture.
Teach sustainable living tips.
I always have a lot to learn and life is a continuous teacher. I'm very happy to be a student :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share tarot readings, conversation, entertain with music or a jam. Share adventures and go to gigs or on roadtrips and camping! I'm always keen for some dancing.
