Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Be funny and eat more eggplant.
ABOUT ME
I play the accordion, poorly but avidly. (And now ukulele, too!) I collect souvenir spoons, ironically but avidly. I make art of all sorts, and like to go to galleries and museums when I travel. I like to bike, mostly around town in a nonspandex sort of way. Oh, and I do have some fab eyeglasses, if I say so myself.
PHILOSOPHY
Don't worry about the potato. The soup is all right.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Years ago, I couchsurfed a bit and made great friends in Rotterdam. But I'd not done it in a while, until my college roommate, who is an avid Couchsurfer was talking about all the friends she's made from around the world through CS. And I realized that in the coming year, I am doing a bunch of travel to research the book I'm writing, and CS will be a great way to connect with humans after spending all day in archives reading 19th-century documents.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I'm the one who's always striking up a conversation with strangers, offering to show someone around the city or recommend things to do.
Interests
Er, did I do this in the describe yourself section? I guess that would mean my interest is jumping ahead.
- arts
- dining
- cooking
- traveling
- cycling
Music, Movies, and Books
I'm an author, which ironically means I don't get to read much 'for pleasure,' although I enjoy all the zillions of pages I read for researching whatever I'm writing about. I love films, and always prefer independent or foreign (ie non-US) films. Music, too varied to describe.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The Ladies' Pole Climb Competition at the Pacific Northwest Lineman's Rodeo. I lost, by a lot.
Teach, Learn, Share
Know your way around the accordion.
Cook good veggie food.
Bake an awesome apple pie.
Want to talk US history? Or listen US history? Or literature. I can teach even the most poetry-phobic to enjoy a poem.
