About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See Japan from top to bottom from atop my motorcycle.

ABOUT ME

I like ramen! When you come to Tokyo, please use my ramen guide to help you find great ramen!

Very easy going. I don't get stressed and am very happy with where I am now in life!

Born and raised in San Francisco, lived here and there in California. Moved to Japan in 2006 to teach English. I've lived here and there but always wanted to live in Tokyo. So now thats what I do! Shortest... bio... ever.

I have that traveling bug that most people on this site have...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

To be honest, I don't host much anymore. I wish I could, but my job has me going all over the country and it is hard to commit to a surfer. Sorry.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed a few times in Japan, Korea, Egypt, Turkey, and America. I mostly host.

I've hosted people in Japan. I really miss hosting in Hiroshima, where I would just leave my door unlocked and come home to a house full of couch surfers.

For most of 2008 I lived in a tiny tiny guesthouse in Tokyo. Too small to host properly.

In 2009 I moved into a cool apartment in the north of Tokyo and hosted a bunch of people.

In 2010 I stopped hosting. Long story. My real estate guy turned out to be a bit of a criminal.

In 2011 I moved to Shinjuku. To a normal place. No crime!

Interests

Traveling by motorcycle.

If you are light, and the weather is good, I can take you on the back of my motorcycle to some interesting places near Tokyo. I have an extra helmet, gloves, and jacket. Driving around Mt. Fuji on a motorcycle is an epic experience. Going to a remote mountain hot spring is spectacular. Driving the streets of Tokyo at night is amazing.

Music, Movies, and Books

I watch a LOT of movies and TV dramas. If you like horror movies, let's talk.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Rode the motorcycle for 100km in a blizzard through the alps of Japan. Maybe more idiotic than amazing...
