ABOUT ME

Hi there. My name is João Praia and I'm Portuguese. I'm extroverted, easygoing, highly adaptable, and always ready to new experiences, new places, new people, new flavours...

I'm a doctor, currently a Clinical Radiology Specialty Registrar year at Porto, and I live in Vila Nova de Gaia.

I'm also a music selector (not exactly a DJ), working the portuguese nightlife.

I love music and cinema.

In my opinion, traveling is the highest form of culture. But i'm tired of getting to know cities and countries by the eyes of a tourist... I want to feel the rhythm and beat of a city like I lived there all along. Discover a whole world outside the guides.

... but for more precise descriptions I always rely on the people I had the fortune to meet during my life.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At the moment, i'm on a shared apartment in Lisbon (Quinta das Conchas, on the northwest part of Lisbon, to be more accurate), and unfortunately isn't possible for me to host anyone. But once that situation changes, I'll update it right away!

So, currently, I'm looking to couchsurf and absorb everything that that implies. And I'm available to show this awesome city to anyone.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was lucky enough to jog around Paris at dawn, and then got to a building in Suresnes where we watched the sunrise between the Eiffel and Montparnasse Tours. Magical.

Spend 11 awesome days in Miami and Fort Lauderdale, with the most welcome, fun and warm hosts of Florida (and I dare to say, of the world?). And even got the chance to nightswim on a heated pool. Ah, the memories...

Had a blast during my latest tour around Madrid and Barcelona, with bicycle rides during rush hour at Gran Via, supermarket visits, scooter rides around Barcelona and, most importantly, meetings with some pretty fascinating people.
