About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To travel the word and meet amazing people while doing so.

ABOUT ME

Convocated from the University of Saskatchewan with a BA Honours degree in Archaeology (with a focus on the Near East). Also took an advanced Zooarchaeology class for fun and to prepare for graduate studies. Moved to Edinburgh to start my MSc in Osteoarchaeology in 2014. I had several interesting jobs including working since in November 2010 (until this past spring) with the Canadian Deafblind Association as an Intervenor (caregiver) in a mens group home. For many summers I worked at a camp as the head Lifeguard and a cabin leader in central Saskatchewan. For a couple summers before I started excavating, I was working as an assistant cook at a summer camp just off the coast of Vancouver, BC on an island. Previously I was elected as president of the Archaeological Students Association for the 2012/2013 school year. For the past few summers I have worked on a dig in Northern Israel near Tel Dan called Abel Beth Maacah, first as a volunteer, then as the registrar for Area F, and this summer will be my 3rd as office manager. The summer before I worked at ABM and at Ein el-Jarba in the Jezreel Valley. Previously I did an archaeological field school in Israel working at Khirbet Qeiyafa/Sha'arayim just outside of Jerusalem. I was part of an archaeological field school in Bulgaria four summers ago. I love kids! I really enjoy traveling, mainly the people I meet, everywhere I have gone, it seems I leave a piece of myself there. I have 2 older siblings who are both married now with kids. If you want to know anything else, just drop me a line, I'd appreciate it.

PHILOSOPHY

What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal. -Albert Pine

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Amelie, Motorcycle Diaries, Goodbye Lenin, Water, The Sea Inside, The Science of Sleep, Benny & Joon, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Sabrina (most recent), most foreign films, there are just too many to mention.
Music: Pretty much everything. The only thing I don't really enjoy is new country, the old stuff is fine, like Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash.
Books: Most everything I've read and intend to read, Walking the Bible - Bruce Feiler, Shake Hands with the Devil - LGEN. Romeo Dallaire, No Compromise: The Life Story of Keith Green - Melody Green, Edgar Allan Poe, Elizabeth Peters, Shel Silverstein, Beowulf, A Paris Moment - Gordon Cope, Spike Milligan, the list goes on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walking on original marble pathway in Ephesus, Turkey with bare feet. Rode mule up the side of Santorini, Greece. Attended Easter Mass in Athens, Greece. Cliff jumping in Lac La Ronge, Saskatchewan, Canada. Watersliding down rocks in Red Rock Canyon, Alberta, Canada. Playing soccer with school children in San Jose, Costa Rica. This was more than one and there will probably be more to add to the list.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm willing to teach anyone as much about my culture as possible in the hopes that they will do the same.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love cooking and can share that. Lots of fun stories too.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bulgaria, Costa Rica, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Israel, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States
