ABOUT ME

Hey! My name is Mackenzie, I'm 24 years old and currently living in Chicago, IL. I grew up throughout the Midwest in Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota and have now settled in Illinois. I work as a video producer at a comedy focused media/marketing company in the loop. I absolutely love my job and always like meeting other creative people.

I love traveling, I've lived in Queensland, Australia and Bonn, Germany and I've traveled all over Europe. Since settling in Chicago I've found it hard to want to leave so I like experiencing the cultural exchange that goes along with couchsurfing.

I'm outgoing and get along with people easily.

I love movies, writing, animals, wine, comedy and classic rock.

I don't take myself or life too seriously.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm a really optimistic person, but not in an annoying always super cheerful way. More like I have the philosophy that 'everything always works out for the best' - remember Kenneth from 30 Rock? I think he said that one time and then threw his wallet out a window to prove his point. When things go wrong I like to remember that.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have surfed a few times before and had great experiences! I love the idea of couchsurfing and think it's the best way to travel: no one knows a place better than the locals!

I receive SO MANY requests -- seriously I didn't realize how overwhelming it would be, I used to try to respond to everyone but it's simply not feasible anymore. I have friends visit me fairly often so my couch isn't always available and for that I'm sorry! But if you catch me at a good time I'm usually up for hosting. I do ask that if you do send me a request to include the phrase "Black Sheep" somewhere in your message just to help me filter between people who actually read through my profile and those just sending out blind requests :) Of course, it's always preferred to have people who took the time to read through my profile and think we'd get on well and aren't solely just looking for a place to crash. Thanks guys!

I make really good pancakes. And toast. Wait what can I even make? I can make you a delicious breakfast of almond butter mixed with bananas and apples - tastes delicious although often lacks in presentation.

I was an English major and used to edit for a living so I can definitely help ya out with your English skills, other than that, I can tell some cool stories maybe and make you laugh definitely.
