I have always opened my home to people traveling and had them open theirs to me. It's good karma to be a good host.

Unlike a lot of hosts, I don't care if your request is copy and pasted. I know that when you're traveling it's a big hassle to write a new message to everyone when you're trying to find a place to crash.

If I send you a copy and pasted message, it’s not because I’m rude or don’t think you seem like a wonderful and unique person, I’m just trying to get the basic information across without having to re-write it a dozen times in every city.
