ABOUT ME

I'm still trying to figure myself out. I'm constantly in a personal battle between two ideologies, the traditional, somewhat conservative, macho culture of the previous generation with the "modern" influence of western culture.

I've lived in Dubai most of my life, but recently moved to Tehran. Iran being "my home" but feeling nothing like it.

I'm interested in how things work, by which I mean people, myself, and this goddamn universe we are in.

I'm a half-glass full kind of guy, except I believe its half full of poison.

Okay, I'm actually not as pessimistic as I make myself out to be. I like meeting people and talking about anything, hopefully as long as its not generic chit-chat, which I struggle a bit with sometimes. I'm very (and maybe slightly annoyingly) interested in various subjects and more interested in stating my opinion on every subject that comes up, irregardless of how little I might actually know about it.

I make a lousy first expression, like this profile itself, but once you get to know me, you realize that your first instinct of murdering me was probably a misjudgment.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in knowledge. I believe that our purpose in life is to know what the purpose of life is, and the only way to find that is to know more about everything.

I live by current acceptable standards of living, but deep inside I try to dismantle acceptable modes of thinking, and try to ask questions to not fall into the trap of thinking acceptable norms of today's generation are the best norms possible. (I reread this part after a month of writing it, and it sounds bad, but you get the idea)

At the moment, not anything in particular since I'm new and in the process of changing countries. But I hope to in the future!

兴趣

Films. I really like films. I like it like those irritating guys that get snobby whenever you mention something mainstream and I roll my eyes and talk about how you should have watched the French or Spanish original, which no one gives a crap, but like all true film snobs, I push forward with my opinions irregardless.

I also like music, but mostly stuff from the 60s and 70s, although I'm trying to finally bite the bullet and listen to contemporary stuff.

And books. Although, I don't read them as much as I used to, but I to try to make sure I still have something I read regularly. Recently, I have moved away from fiction, and read books on religion, philosophy, etc.
