About Me

As a binational citizen of this world, I've always enjoyed finding myself in foreign places, among foreign cultures. I've lived in Casablanca, Pittsburgh, Taipei, Paris, Lyon and Jakarta but I think I can feel at home just about anywhere I can make friends.

Oh iya, kalau orang indonesia yang kirim request, pasti diterima ! Aku senang sekali kalau bisa ketemu sama orang indonesia :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I realized recently that I enjoyed less and less travelling to places where I didn't know anybody. Hotels, empty rooms, touring a place by yourself and realize at the end of the day that the only conversations you've had with locals are to buy stuff or ask directions - non merci, at least not when I can avoid it ! :)
I mean, seeing the monuments, tasting the local food and using the Lonely Planet is fine, but it's never as rewarding as actually going somewhere to meet people, see where they live, hear them talk about it, let them show you their habits and hidden secrets.

In short: Couchsurfing takes travelling to a whole other level.

Interests

Why I travel:
35%: sampling the best food from all over the world (current favorite food capitals of the world: Singapore, Kashgar and Damascus).
35%: meeting new people (trying out new food with new people is thus the perfect combo :)
20%: understanding world history
9%: being astonished by outlandish landscapes
1%: "I've been there !"

When I'm home, I like to cook, watch new movies, read sci-fi and non-fiction, and spend too much time playing go (igo/weiqi/baduk), an ancient mind game whose depth and complexity will probabably never cease to fascinate me.

I've travelled the Silk Road in about a year, from Paris to Japan without flying. From the summer heat of the Iranian desert to the damp cold of the Chinese autumn. But I hope more amazing things lie ahead !
