About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Planning a winter trip to... somewhere!!!

ABOUT ME

I'm easy going, curious, and after staying settled down for a while am ready to find new adventures!

Some of my travels include living on a mountain in Colorado's wilderness and picking grapes and tending alpacas in the desert.

I'm currently putting down roots in Moab, Utah: a beautiful town surrounded by canyons, towers, National Parks, and lots of room to play. I love the area, but am excited to travel this winter, visit new continents, and meet lots of new people!

PHILOSOPHY

Now is the time! - ahora y aqui!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

A little bit of hosting, a bit more surfing.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Wonderful! I had a great introduction to couchsurfing when I drove across the US in winter of 2011. I got the chance to experience parts of the country that I would have entirely missed out on otherwise - for example, I learned that "tanking," or floating downsteam with your friends/a cooler in a cattle watertrough, is a popular summer pastime in parts of Nebraska.
I've also stayed with hosts in El Salvador, Israel, and Jordan, and even went ice climbing with a host in Alaska.

Interests

Growing up I spent a lot of time both in the outdoors and in Boston, so I feel equally at home in both types of places. I love to fill up my backpack with food and water and spend the day wandering around wherever I am or heading out for many days into the wild.

I also like: cooking big meals with lots of people, building trails, drawing and doodling, rock climbing, geology, dinosaurs, live music, camping, backpacking, and getting out on the water (kayaking, canoeing, sailing).

Music, Movies, and Books

Jurassic Park I, II, and III - I appreciate more thoughtful films too:) Especially ones that I find myself thinking about long after I've seen them. Best one lately: "Blancanieves."

"Desert Solitaire" by Edward Abbey for favorite book. It brought me to the town where I now live.

My music taste is broad, but I guess "alt. folk" is the genre for most of my Pandora stations.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once tried to pet a very large dog in the dark that turned out to be a bear.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know a lot about the natural world: plants, animals, geology, and random interesting facts. I also can teach what I know about living outdoors and rock climbing.
