About Me

Hi there! My name is Maddy and I'm a 24 year old from the United States. Originally from Mill Valley (first little town you hit when you cross the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco), I graduated from Middlebury College in 2013 and worked in Boston, Massachusetts for two years to save some money. Quit my job in October of 2015 to set off on my first RTW trip! Aiming to be back in the states by August 1st, 2016.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I chose to take this trip in order to get to know the world and the people that fill it, and to become a person of culture, adventure, and compassion. I'm brand new to this but Couchsurfer seems to be set along similar ideals, and I'm hoping the type of person who chooses to host on Couchsurfer does as well :).

Interests

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Really loving Eryn Allen Kane at the moment...Stevie Wonder classics + the general new-oldies genre (Elton John/CCR/ Cat Stevens) are also favorites. Like Lake Street Drive, Alabama Shakes, James Bay, Ben Howard as well.

Movies: The Shawshank Redemption is the favorite. Love Finding Nemo and Miss Congeniality too.

Books: Well Harry Potter, because it's the series that shaped my generation... also To Kill A Mockingbird, The Art of Fielding, Freedom, and Everything Is Illuminated.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Taking a hot air balloon up in Cappadocia, Turkey, remains a trip highlight. I also helped birth a baby in Kenya - that was definitely an amazing thing to be a part of!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some soccer moves and share my love for good food!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a flexible person who gets along with a wide variety of people. I really like making new friends and am good at staying in touch with old ones. I can share a love of stories, sports, outdoor activities, and also just inside lazy time (I'm good at doing nothing, so will be easy to entertain!).

Countries I’ve Visited

Cambodia, Denmark, France, Greece, India, Jordan, Laos, Mexico, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Thailand, Turkey, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In
