À propos de moi

CURRENT MISSION

Travel, learn, visit, laugh

ABOUT ME

I am very friendly but a bit shy (I'm working on that); I love meeting new people though, I love good conversations in which everybody can share experiences. I think the world has become very big and some stories are just begging to be told, including my own! I can sit still with a book or a movie/Tv show (especially Doctor Who!), but I also love to walk all day in an interesting city or the country, and I'm open to doing anything as long as it's not life-threatening! (and even then, it's discussable)
I've travelled a lot when I was small, my mom and step-dad bringing me to amazing places around the world, and my dad lives in Los Angeles, which allows me regular traveling about twice a year. I want to broaden my horizons!

PHILOSOPHY

Open mind. I accept that there are things I will never understand in this world, but that doesn't mean I mustn't be curious.
Above all, have fun as much as I can ! Boredom is my greatest enemy, because it is safe, alluring, but it can trap someone and keep that person in one place for a whole life.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love to travel, as soon as the opportunity arises. I cannot stay in one place for too long, well at least I don't want to; I might get used to it and never want to leave my comfortable nest again.
I also love to meet people from different places, people I can learn from. I know very well that I'm still young; I feel like I'm in front of a huge, barely touched cake, and I'm hungry for it !!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My Couchsurfing experience is neither full nor wanting. My mom, one of my sisters and I have been on the East Coast of the United States, travelling solely by CS, and we have a great experience from it. I've been hosted in Spain by a lovely family for two weeks, and my family and I love to host people. My mother (Cécile Vigneras or ceciloo) is also a CS member, if you want to check out her profile.

Centres d'intérêt

I live partly in France with my mother and my two little step-sisters, and I partly with my father in Los Angeles (it really depends on the time of year). My mother has taken me to travel in every continent at least once; that's where I got my love of travel. Now I don't think I could stand to stay in one place for very long. I love to read and write; I'm writing a couple of fantasy novels. I'm not a big fan of ball sports, I don't keep up with it, but I like to hike, swim and ride bikes.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

I'm a great movie-watcher, music-listener, and book-reader.
I love cheesy romances (though I do keep a stream of criticism about them in my head) and fantasy novels, though I like classics a lot too (I read Pride and Prejudice when I was 12 and am in the middle of Persuasion). Recently I found love with History books since my year studying History. My friends tease me about it, saying I'm more interested in it now than when I had to study it! (not true.) I love reading about distant History, mainly the Middle Ages and anything before that is fascinating to me, but I'm also interested in anything before the industrial revolutions. After that, I feel, is recent history.
My music taste is wide. I like some new music, the kind that you hear on the radio all the time, and I listen to anything except rap or metal, stuff like that. My favorite artists include the Proclaimers, the Black Sorrows, Chameleon Circuit (as I said, I LOVE Doctor Who), Coeur de Pirate, David Bowie, Eels, ELO, Lindsey Stirling, the Lumineers... Well, there's a lot.
As for movies, anything well-made, well-written, with good actors and a good plot will surely interest me. For example, Jupiter Ascending had a good basis in the story concept and could have made a good movie, but they kind of wasted it on cool shots and fancy effects...
However don't get me started on Harry Potter books and movies, unless you're ready for a long debate on the good and bad sides of the adaptations! (I mean, come on, Voldemort's death in the movie was complete crap!!)

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

There are so many amazing things I've seen and done, I don't know what to choose !
When I was 6 or 7, I was travelling in South America with my French family and we stopped at the Iguaçu Falls (which are higher but not as large as the Niagra Falls). We could actually stand on a deck at the very edge, look down and see water falling into white mist. It was like standing over nothingness, like if we fell, we would not land anywhere and keep on falling forever.
What else can I talk about? The time when I hiked in an Indonesian jungle with my mom and sisters and a guide who barely spoke any English, or swimming with dolphins off the coast of Bali, or living in a wall-less cabin on a mostly deserted island in Thailand and watching monkeys climb around the trees every morning. I could talk about our camping-van trip down the coast of South America to the very tip of the continent in Ushuaïa, the southern-most city of the world, or walking in a park filled with wild penguins barely shorter than I was at the time, or climbing down a very narrow stairway into the center of a mountain to visit an Egyptian tomb, or skydiving in the French countryside. I could talk about snorkeling on the coast of Catalina Island, near Los Angeles, and getting dizzy when I saw the reef drop away into deeper depths, like standing on the very edge of a cliff, staring down and seeing that the bottom was too far to see, except that this time I didn't have the comfort of solid ground under my feet.
Yeah, I've had good experiences. I can't wait to go further.
