About Me

Hey gang! I'm Madeleine, a 19 year old ex high school exchange student and present uni student/ Super Hip Barista (I excel in crude latte art - bring on the weenie-ccinos). Aside from drinking liter amounts of coffee, I enjoy learning a variety of semi useful phrases in multiple languages and cooking meals/experiments of dubious edibility and just meeting people and seeing what the world has to offer.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I hold the belief that you can never meet too many interesting people, and the best way to meet people (in my brief and frequently embarrassing existence) is to hurl yourself in the path of like minded people, hence couch surfing.

Music, Movies, and Books

1984, The Secret History, Ender's Game, Howl's Moving Castle, Either/Or, The Japanese House, The 1975, Axel Flovent, Ásgeir, Rusted Root,Migos, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Beethoven.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Upon the age of 16 I was apt to think that I was mature enough to go on exchange to Switzerland for a year at the ripe age of 17. Spoiler alert: I wasn't (but I learned fast). However, living with two strange and different families for a year and making the most idiotic mistakes did teach me a thing or two about German and the wonder that is humanity . Also, I once ate 2 kilograms of Swiss chocolate without being ill, which I remain both incredibly proud of and vaguely troubled by.

Teach, Learn, Share

If any of the knowledge I have occured in thus far can be of use to you, I will share it. Both telling and listening to stories is a hobby of mine. I know a thing or two about coffee and homeopathic tea. I am also the queen of putting together survival backpacks for any sort of outing/ potential apocalypse. I worked at a DC Starbucks for a year and a half (before I moved on to local coffee roasters), so I can clean very big messes, very fast.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook with quite some experience for a variety of different dietary needs including gluten/ dairy free and plant based, and I'm a killer baker. I can chat excitedly about and share my basic knowledge of coffee and linguistics. I also love helping with any huge cleaning projects. Also, I excel at giving dubious life advice.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Barbados, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Jamaica, Mexico, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland

Countries I’ve Lived In
