Having grown up in one of the multicultural centres of Germany (Frankfurt am Main), I was always very open to different cultures, being part of that melting pot mentality, where it was just a very regular thing to meet people with different backgrounds. I enjoy being around people who are politically active and am so myself, although my studies don't leave me as much time for this as I'd like to have.

Last year I spent a couple of month on Chios, Greece, where a lot of refugees live in inhumane conditions, which was a live-changing experience. I very much enjoyed the work with our students from the camps, but this experience has somewhat changed my view on European values and politics.

Usually I am busy studying Medicine in Leipzig. I am in my fourth year, which unfortunately does not give me as much time to meet people during the semester as I would like to have.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

Mostly to meet people and get insights into lifes different to my own. I enjoy long conversations and people have described me as a good listener, although I am not quite sure whether this really applies.

For some reason I really enjoy coming back to the same places to visit the same people, so this summer I'm staying with the same couchsurfer for the third time. So although I use couchsurfing as a platform to meet people, I prefer building up long-term friendships.

Intereses

I enjoy being outside, going for long hikes or spending a night at the cinema/theatre. I read a lot and like to share insights about books, which means sometimes I'll just start giggling or laughing out loud. I'll then read the passage to people around me and hope to find them as amused as I am. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, which is fine as well.

Música, películas y libros

I enjoy different styles of music, and I think in almost any style you can find good music. One of the musicians I like best is Itzhak Perlman, a violinist who makes really heart-felt music. I also love Billy Joel.

The film I'd like to see next is Astrid, about Astrid Lindgren, who is probably also one of my favorite authors, mostly because of the humaneness and compassionate way of telling stories, which can be sad at times, but so full of life.

Algo increíble que he hecho

In 2014 I travelled to Ireland with my sister and it is a little bit amazing that we made it through this journey savely. We were lost at sea, drenched to the bone while hiking for hours, we hitchhiked and were dropped right on the motorway and we missed our flight by two days. But interestingly it was one of the most beautiful journeys in my life so far.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

Well, I can teach you a lot of random stuff that you probably never wanted to learn, such as doing a full body check in case of an accident or how to knit a round scarf, but I also enjoy to sing songs and play guitar , tell stories (especially fairytails) and show you how to make the perfect scrambled egg.

I'd love to cook for you, and have dinner together. I can share some insights on the refugee crisis and I'd love to hear your thoughts on whatever topic you find interesting at the moment.
