I work a part time at a pro photo lab to supplement my income while getting my photo business going as well as freelance photo assist for some commercial photographers.

This past summer I took off for 2 months and drove cross country by myself and surfed along the way. Surfing was truly one of the most amazing parts of my trip. Everyone I had the opportunity to stay with was beyond wonderful! I can't wait to get back on the road and meet some great new friends :-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couchsurfing to meet new people and have amazing experiences when I travel! There is nothing quite like surfing and I can't be more thankful for the awesome community of people who make up this site. Thanks to everyone who opens their home and heart to "strangers." I'm hoping someday soon I'll be better able to accommodate hosting people myself!

Interests

Clearly my first love is photography! I started getting involved in the photo world my first year of high school and pursued it into college. So in total I have been taking photos for 9 years now and am always trying to learn how to better my work. In the last couple years I have also gotten into a bit of hiking and kayaking, I can't say I'm a super athletic person however I really do love the outdoors.

Music, Movies, and Books

Gosh this is always the toughest part of a profile for me to fill out, I tend to go with the flow for most of this. My best friend usually is my music go to giving me CDs she's mixed for me but ill listen to almost anything. Generally I like rock, alternative, trip hop, older rap music, and some country, currently my favorite band is Puscifer. They are super weird and you should check them out if you haven't!

Movies are about the same as music for me I watch anything from kids movies to cult classics to hollywood blockbusters. I tend to find myself watching more "indie" films I guess they would qualify as. Things like Running with Scissors, Lars and the real girl, or Girl Interrupted. My favorite movie is The Jerk. As many movies as I have seen though you'd probably be surprised at the movies I haven't seen.

Now for books, I hate to admit it but I don't often read. Lately I've been trying to get through some photo industry books on lighting and business, though I'm not sure that qualifies as "favorite books".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'd have to go with pursuing my passion for photography and making it my career. Since I was younger I always found myself attracted to the idea of creating things and I knew the first time I enlarged and developed a photo in the darkroom, photography was for me. So I studied photo 4 years in high school 4 more in college got my business license and currently am working my butt off to make it happen. I think this is the appropriate usage of the term, "yolo," haha! Whats the point of living a life working to death and not doing a damn thing that makes you happy.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm not entirely sure what this section is about but I'm all about these three things haha. I love teaching people things if I can and I definitely am always up for learning new things! As for sharing I would love to make new friends and share some awesome experiences with them.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I enjoy cooking and baking and would love to cook for anyone who hosts me :-)

Also I clearly love taking photos, so anyone in need of a portrait or headshot for Linkdin or Facebook can certainly ask!

And last but not least if you host me I would certainly open my home to you in the future if you were ever interested in checking out Niagara Falls or eating some Buffalo wings.
