About Me
CURRENT MISSION/ABOUT ME
April 2017: Explore Thailand (and neighboring countries?), recharge, meet new people, learn from a new environment
I work in outdoor experiential education in northern Minnesota. My mission in my work is to build confidence, inspiration, and respect for wild places using the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and Lake Superior as a classroom.
PHILOSOPHY
Simplicity and Laughter are important to me!
"Sentiment without action is the ruin of the soul." -Ed Abbey
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I couchsurfed while traveling across the southwest in 2013. Currently a host, soon to travel again.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Discovered CS during a college semester in Spain. Then I met great people in Madison who stayed with my friends. I then stayed with two wonderful hosts in Utah. It's always been a great experience... I'm looking forward to meeting more hosts/friends in Thailand and someday having a spare room of my own!
Interests
I love being outside. I spend much of my work time on skis or dogsleds, in canoes, or at campsites. In my free time I often pursue more outdoor adventures, but also love to relax with friends/family. Other interests include taking a long time to cook a meal, reading a good book, and sitting around talking. Being alone is important for me and I've been trying to spend more time writing and creating.

Music, Movies, and Books
folk, funk, bluegrass, indie rock, jazz, soul, raggae, jam bands... no favorite, but love lots of music!
Most recently I've enjoyed books by Chimamanda Adichie, Edward Abbey and John Steinbeck.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Led an all-women 3 week canoe expedition in the Boundary Waters.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm always interested in learning languages, working on playing music (I've got some basic guitar and mandolin knowledge), and becoming a better naturalist. I generally like to learn and talk to people about what inspires them.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share my time, conversation, listening, and of course food and drinks.
I also love working in gardens, and I don't have one, so maybe I could help someone sometime :)
Countries I’ve Visited
Belgium, Canada, Costa Rica, Greece, Italy, Mexico, Morocco, United States
Countries I’ve Lived In
