About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be able to fit everything I own into the trunk of my car.

ABOUT ME

I've been an airline brat (my dad's a flight attendant) my entire life and I never appreciated it until I ended up in Palestine in 2009. I'm one of those lucky people who had a traveling experience that changed everything for them, and I'm determined to find as many more as possible.

I'm spending this semester in Bogota, studying culture and conflict, focusing on health. One of these days I hope to get an MD, but for now I'm happy to take each day as its own adventure. This means cooking arepas (and topping them with anything I can find), reading lots, traveling by bus, making incredible new friends, learning to dance, finding the best bars, salsa clubs, etc...whatever a day has in store, I'm down.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Milo and Otis

Music: Bluegrass/American Folk (you have to get something out of going to school in Arkansas), almost anything that has come out of Portland or Seattle

Books: Stiff by Mary Roach comes in as my favorite. No competition.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was little my dad would take me and my sister to Spencer's Spit on Lopez Island in the San Juans. We'd camp out around a fire and wait for low tide. When the tide went out, we'd walk along the beach and poke geoducks. I'm pretty sure that nothing in my life has rivaled the thrill of being a little kid and harassing geoducks (it really doesn't hurt them...I don't think). If you don't know what happens when you poke geoducks, I recommend youtube.
