About Me
Hey everyone!
I'm a 24 year old ESL teacher at a high school in the Isaan (northeast) region of Thailand. Before coming to Thailand, I was working for an ecommerce start up in my home state of California, which was ultimately not something I wanted in my life long term. I attended college at the University of California Santa Cruz, majoring in sociology and minoring in education. My previous travel experience before moving to Thailand was mainly in the fall of 2013, when I studied abroad in London for a semester. Since then the majority of my travel has been state side.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, relearning/studying Spanish (and some Thai), working on making a website (poorly), and going for runs or doing yoga. My less interesting hobbies include binging Ru Paul's Drag Race and stuffing my face with food.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I figured Couchsurfing would be a good resource for me to travel on a budget as well as get to know locals in an area on a deeper level. I love getting to know people and developing connections beyond the surface level, and Couchsurfing seems like something that could manifest those encounters to happen more frequently while traveling.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love a wide range of music from Alt-J, Portugal. the Man, and Queens of the Stoneage, to Ed Sheeran and Beyonce, to Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, and Chance the Rapper.
My all time favorite movie is Across the Universe, and I've recently developed a small obsession with the new movie Lala Land. I also love watching documentaries on Netflix.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Not sure I would describe anything I've done as "amazing", but my first job was making goat cheese! My grandparents used to have their own goat farm/goat cheese business, so I basically learned how to make all different kinds of cheese from start to finish. It's honestly a disgusting process yet somehow I still love cheese... LOVE cheese.
Teach, Learn, Share
Since I am a teacher, I love talking about all things education, especially when it ties into anything related to sociology or politics. Outside of that, I also love talking about traveling and experiences in different cultures. Since I do not always get the opportunity to travel as much as I'd like, I find great value in hearing others experiences around the world. I love to share stories, I have some weird ones, and I love creating weird experiences that turn into weird stories for later!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I don't cook often for myself, but when I do I seem to know how to follow directions fairly well and come up with some halfway decent eats.
Ultimately, if you're outgoing, I can roll with that. If you're introverted, I can DEFINITELY roll with that. I know how to acclimate to the people around me, regardless of what your social style is, and I can find enjoyment out of almost any activity whether it be silently reading books in the same room with someone, or running amok on a night on the town till 4am. If you would prefer I make my presence hardly known, I am also great at making myself scarce. :) [although I hope that's not the case, because I love to meet new people]
