We're fun, creative and easy going girls with a good sense of adventure and a cheeky sense of humour.
We've both travelled a lot but have been based in NZ for a number of years now. This year we're off in separate directions - Mags to America, Amelia to Christchurch.

We enjoy bodypainting (together and separately) and have won numerous awards for this. We also like playing with fire (staff/poi), face painting, hippy-festivals, a few beers, drawing, sculpting, lazing and all manner of enjoyable pursuits.

We are mostly vegetarian - although we don't mind if you want to cook separately. We also try our best to be good for the environment where we can.

We do custom private bodypainting portraits. Sometimes we have clients at home - so if you are surfing with us, we need you to be respectful. We do most of our work from home, the artist's lifestyle!

Mags also sculpts and does prop designs.
Amelia has a research based fine arts practice.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Hosting & Surfing - when possible, we host a lot, because we enjoy it. We enjoy surfing when we are travelling for the same reasons as we enjoy hosting. The connections with other people are often fantastic.

We're quite selective with who we host - we get so many requests here so we can be. We prefer to connect with likeminded souls - that's not to say you must be artistic although it's always a bonus - but if you think we're from a different world then maybe this is not the couch for you!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We've had a few surfers now - always different experiences. Some stay longer and get involved in our projects, some stay a short time and observe the craziness that is our lives!
We even took 3 couch surfers to Kiwiburn this year where we all collaborated on a performance artwork which ended up with 50 participants..
We had some absolutely incredible hosts whilst we were in Europe which was really inspiring for us.

Interests

Amelia is a visual artist, whose practice involves eco-art, conceptual performances, installation, sculpture, photography. She works as a curatorial assistant at a local non-commercial contemporary art gallery.

Magdalena is a New Zealand Champion Body Artist, and sculptor. She makes amazing prosthetics and is really great with an airbrush. Mags teaches workshops in facepainting, specialFX and prop making.

Together, we spend a lot of time doing make up and face painting for theatre and community performances. We also love helping to make the props and sculptures that go along with these events. We love the kiwiburn community and enjoy fire nights and acro-balance, and most slightly crazy things.

We came second in the UV World competition at the world body painting festival in Austria!

Teach, Learn, Share

can share face painting/drawing skills, recently learnt henna from a surfer which we might practice on you. We love cooking and sharing meals.
