About Me

Hello! We are two friends (one girl, one boy) from Australia and both live in Melbourne. We met at university studying medicine and just finished our final exams!! We are both very into cooking (Jesse almost became a chef!) as well as eating, reading, hiking and beaching amongst many other hobbies.
We're both very friendly and are most excited about meeting new people with the hope of making some new friends throughout our trip. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We're travelling throughout Europe with no real plans but with the aim of meeting local people, listening to their tips and tricks so we can have more of a unique experience compared to that of staying at a backpacker hostel. We both have a big interest in learning about the culture, food and languages of the places we visit so what better way to learn than staying with a local expert. :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last year Jesse and I climbed Mt Rinjani in Lombok, Indonesia. Having climbed up from 30 degree sunshine at the bottom, we were totally unprepared for the -10 degree pitch black, severely windy summit climb. We crawled our way up volcanic sand, making our way through the darkness for hours before finally huddling next to a rock, fighting the cold to wait for a sunrise that did not eventuate.
Despite this we were ecstatic- we had survived the journey to the top! And on the way down, the darkness and clouds parted, revealing shear drops either side as well as one of the most stunning views of the surrounding landscape and crater lake we had ever seen. Safe to say we would never do it again but it was one of the most amazing experiences in all our travels.

Teach, Learn, Share

Would love to learn to boulder/rock climb properly if anyone has any advice around this that would be very welcome!
