We are a recently married (July 23) couple - Madi (F/ teacher/26) and Laurie (M/ marketing/32), who are currently on a 18 month trip around the globe wanting to experience as much as possible.
We have quit our jobs and so far been travelling for 11 months around Asia 👋

We joined couch surfing for a locals point of view, as we have found local knowledge to be the most enriching whilst travelling. Whilst travelling, we've been volunteering in schools to try to help out the local communities and explore more.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To stay with local people and gain a better insight and access to a place, as well as enabling us to stay longer in each country without compromising the experience via our travel budget.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We both worked on a cruise ship working around the world, that is how we met four years ago. Laurie was a bass player in the ship's band and I worked in the kids club on board.

Teach, Learn, Share

As a teacher, I am volunteering around S.E Asia to teach English to those less fortunate and on the poverty line. Laurie worked as a musician for many years playing bass and double bass so could teach you a few things musically if wanted. We also aim to learn and work with locals to gain a better insight into the culture and countries that we visit. We would love to share and exchange travel stories from which we have built up thus far into our adventure.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We are happy to cook English dinners for a cross culture experience. Willing to clean within reason. Travel recommendations for around the globe. Exchange, converse and teach English language to the host and their family/friends.
Good humour and discussion, willingness to experience a place through the eyes of the hosts.
