About Me

Hi! I'm Madie, a 26 year old Colorado transplant from Kentucky. I moved here 3 years ago to pursue my Master's degree in Public Health and I am head over heels for this beautiful state!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My husband and I will be moving back to his hometown of Indianapolis in April 2017. Before we settle back down, we are going on a 5-month road-trip around the U.S. from May to October and will be looking with awesome people to stay with that can recommend unforgettable experiences! We would love to stay with you!

Interests

My husband and I love anything and everything about the great outdoors. We will try any activity and are always down for challenging hikes, bike rides and water sports. I also LOVE to cook. I have a cooking and travel blog (www.selfandsustenance.com) that displays my recipes and some of the cool places we've been.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like all different types of music and mostly what I listen to depends on my mood. Some of my favorite artists are The Black Keys, Shakey Graves, Houndmouth, Alabama Shakes, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and the list goes on. Same goes for movies and books! I like a little bit of everything!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the hardest things I ever done was climb Longs Peak in Rocky Mountain National Park. It's a 15 mile round-trip hike up to an elevation of 14, 259 feet with an elevation gain of over 5,000 feet. There were 30 mph winds the day we climbed it and it was pretty terrifying but I felt so accomplished once we reached the top and it's a day I will never forget.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have a fairly extensive knowledge about travel now, as my husband lived in Germany for a year and we did a fair amount of international travel while he was over there. I can also share LOTS of knowledge on areas to camp and hike in Colorado and things to do/see in Denver. I can also share food! I love to cook for others and entertain.
