About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My current mission is to find an amazing new roommate by April 1st. If anyone is thinking of moving to Seattle, let me know.

ABOUT ME

I live in Seattle in a neighborhood called First Hill, which is a ten minute walk to Downtown, and only a few blocks from the lively Capitol Hill neighborhood.
I grew up in a rural area of a smaller city outside of Seattle called Redmond. I have a deep appreciation for art, music, food, drink, and humor.
I have an incredible group of friends and family, for whom I am extremely grateful.
Balance and harmony are things that I have a constant awareness of, and complete respect for. I feel that without those things, achieving true happiness is impossible. Enjoying one's self, and learning as much as possible are the basic goals of existence, and I make an effort to enable both of those things in my life to the best of my ability. Respect and trust are what I base all of my interactions around.
I am fascinated by other cultures, languages, and ways of life. I love to travel. When I have the opportunity to go somewhere new, I like to try to experience life as a person would who lives there. I want to see the things that most tourists would over-look, or be too afraid to try.

PHILOSOPHY

I love life, and make a great effort to experience and enjoy it completely. The constant ebb and flow of existence that we are all a part of, the circular flow of energy with which all life flows is a beautiful awareness that I relish and respect.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At the moment, I am hosting as many surfers as I can comfortably accommodate. I just returned from an amazing European adventure, and am recapturing elements of my trip through travelers spending time on my couch.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I did a bit of surfing while I was traveling, and am hosting lots of folks now that I'm back.

Interests

I have recently started bicycling around the city with a couple of my friends, which I enjoy very much. I love being active and outdoors. Music and art have always been a big part of my life; I try to go to as many shows and art walks as I can afford. I spend a lot of time going to new restaurants, having a drink after work with my co workers, and playing Frisbee in the street. I love to relax on the beach while reading a book. Cooking is something I've always been passionate about, and I love to learn new techniques and styles.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A couple of winters ago, Seattle saw more snow than it had in at least 60 years. Due to the abundance of hills, and our lack of preparedness for extreme weather, we were collectively incapacitated. The only way to get around the city was to walk. The buses were no longer running, cars were abandoned, and littered the streets. In the middle of this storm, my family and I managed to meet downtown a couple of days before Christmas for a performance at the symphony, as we had purchased tickets months in advance. Unfortunately, it had been canceled. My parents stayed in a hotel, and my brother, my boyfriend at the time, and I set off to climb back up the hill to my apartment a couple of miles away. They were in suits, I was in a dress and heels. After much uncomfortable, cold trudging, we approached the top of the hill to find about two hundred people sledding down one of the steepest, and normally busiest streets in the city. There was beer, music, and lots of snow. We changed into warmer clothes, and spent the whole night being kids again. One of the best parts was that no one had a sled. Instead, people were using lids from dumpsters, cookie sheets, flattened cardboard boxes, frying pans, laundry hampers, a mattress, and a even a surf board. The party was still going when we finally went home cold, wet, and blissfully happy at 4 am. It was a magical night that I will fondly remember for the rest of my life.
