About Me

Mid-week I am an academic advisor at a community college. Weekends I desperately cling to my younger habits, having found an oasis at a local coffee shop. It's a late night anti-bar with traditional pastries and coffee drinks but beer and wine also.

We have a big group that meets regularly Friday and Saturday nights. We play chess, yell at each other, people watch, chit chat, and earn our pseudo-intellectual merit badges!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Interests

Chess, spending time with people (total extrovert), coffee shops, conversation (simple and complex), books about people/events/ideas, sports (football, baseball, basketball, recently soccer and rugby), good restaurants, good beer.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lived out of my vehicle for two years as I finished my bachelor's degree. It was the happiest time of my life. I paid no rent, worked part time, went to school full time, and met amazing people daily. Showered at the school gym everyday, a good conversation was always nearby. It was a mellow life, save for all the papers to write.

Teach, Learn, Share

A friend once told me, "I look at everyone I meet as a teacher." I like that. I think we can all pick up a grain or two of wisdom from one another. Everyone has a story.

Do I have anything specific for you? I've studied some helpful techniques for resolving conflict and listening. I know a little about mindfulness and philosophy. If you'd like to know what I know, feel free to ask.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A considerate approach, kind demeanor, and flexible disposition. Would love to help out around the house, do some chores, help prepare a meal, etc. I can match the energy of the house. I'm game to enjoy the quiet space of a mellow home or party it up with social butterflies. Pretty flexible person.

I am happy to provide some refreshments, drinks, a meal, or put money to some other fun event.
