About Me

I'm Maddie, a Boston-area native, educated in Montreal, who has somehow landed in the craziness of the Silicon Valley. I'm a product manager at a startup by trade, but also by accident. I haven't done serious traveling in far too long, so I'm working on making that my next phase -- but also enjoying the hell out of San Francisco in the meantime!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm plotting my next big world-wander, so I'm hoping to get more involved in this community and book a few couches along the way. I'm currently unable to host due to roommate constraints, but have every intention to in the future!

Interests

Lately I've been really into the circus arts (aerial silks mostly) -- I'm not any good, but I'm hooked nonetheless. Also love camping and backpacking, rock climbing, live music, singing in harmony, and dance of all sorts. I studied linguistics and psychology, so I geek out about language and brains regularly.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music-wise, I have a special soft spot for anything folk/bluegrassy. Also love jazz/soul/funk-type stuff, almost anything acoustic, indie rock, and some psychedelic rock. All-time favorites include the Decemberists, Lake Street Dive, Rilo Kiley/Jenny Lewis, and Regina Spektor.

I am chronically out of the loop about movies, which is sorta funny because I am the child of a video retailer. Ah well.

I read various things, but always wander back to nonfiction about people and why they act the way they do.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Ambient vocal/ukulele music and lessons (only if desired!), yummy banana bread and/or applesauce, tales from the trenches of the Silicon Valley, armchair opinions on human behaviour, brains and language.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Bahamas, China, Ecuador, France, Germany, Iceland, Mexico, New Zealand, South Korea, Spain, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Australia, Canada, United States
